Conserving the Ellis Property in North Louisiana

“I’m doing it for my grandson.”

Mr. Ellis has spent the entirety of his 80-some years on the property his grandfather bought in north Louisiana generations ago. A lover of this land, he has grown crops, raised chickens, fished the pond, and watched small saplings grow into giants.

He took action to ensure the family land would stay protected for future generations by initiating the donation of a conservation easement to Land Trust for Louisiana — a gift to his family and the community, who have witnessed old forests and peach orchards convert to subdivisions all around them.

This month, we are proud to report that Land Trust for Louisiana has officially closed on the Ellis conservation property near Ruston, Louisiana.

Thank you to Mr. Ellis for ensuring that your family’s property will stay protected for future generations of Louisianans!

And a special thanks to Rick Jacob, our Land Protection Specialist, who has shepherded this project for the past 5 years. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to conserving Louisiana’s important natural places! You can learn more about Rick Jacob and our other staff members on our About page.
