Paddle, Bird, and Explore: Join Our Annual Maurepas Swamp Adventure

Paddling at Maurepas Swamp in Louisiana

Each spring, Land Trust for Louisiana invites nature lovers to experience one of Louisiana’s most remarkable landscapes from the water. Our Annual Paddle & Birding Trip returns to the Maurepas Swamp Preserve on Sunday, March 29, and we hope you’ll join us for this unforgettable day in the swamp.

A Guided Journey into Protected Louisiana

This special trip, led in partnership with Canoe & Trail Adventures, takes participants on a guided paddle through cypress-tupelo wetlands rich with bird life and wildlife. Along the way, you’ll experience firsthand the beauty and importance of conserving Louisiana’s coastal forests and waterways.

Paddlers will kayak to a camp deep within the preserve — land that Land Trust for Louisiana owns and protects — where we’ll pause to relax, share stories, and enjoy lunch together at the camp. Afterward, we’ll paddle back through the serene waterways of the Maurepas Swamp, taking in the sights and sounds of one of the region’s most iconic ecosystems.

Birding, Wildlife, and Community

Maurepas Swamp is home to an extraordinary diversity of birds and wildlife. Every paddle offers new discoveries, and whether you’re an experienced birder or simply enjoy being outdoors, this trip provides a relaxed, welcoming way to connect with nature and fellow conservation supporters.
